Product Specification
Specification Characteristic
It is necessary to add a new format characteristic according to the following description:
At Sales > Records > iQuote > Product Specification > Specification Characteristic Type, create a new characteristic with the class “Component Format – Label”
The user is required to have the following access options enabled to be able to add a specification characteristic type:
EPS > SALES > RECORDS > IQUOTE > PRODUCT SPECIFICATION > SPECIFICATION CHARACTERISTIC TYPE > ADD SPECIFICATION CHARACTERISTIC TYPE
In the system’s main menu, click Sales > Records > iQuote > Product Specification > Specification Characteristic Type or enter "Specification Characteristic Type” in the Quick Search field.
Click Add. The following screen will open:
Complete the fields in this screen, as described below:

Description |
Code |
Identification code for the specification characteristic type. |
Description |
Description of the specification characteristic type that will be shown in the other records. |
Screen Description |
Description of the specification characteristic type that will be shown in estimate’s and Product Order’s product specification. If this field is blank, the description defined in Description will be used as the product specification. |
Characteristic Class |
Standard class that determines the type of specification characteristic, its information and viewing mode in the product specification. When you select a class the Specification View section will show how the system will present the characteristic in the estimate’s and Product Order’s product specification. When working with Label products, you will probably use the Component Format - Label and Component Format - Roll Format classes the most. |
Specification Characteristic Classification |
This classification indicates how the system will show the specification characteristic in the Production Order. It is helpful to sectionate the characteristics in a more practical manner. |
Create Engineering |
It indicates whether the specification characteristic is available for Engineering. This option should be selected this specification characteristic needs to be available in the Engineering to calculate an engineering process. If a characteristic is marked as "Create Engineering" and there is no functionality Recorded that would suppress this characteristic the Engineering will not be calculated. |
Active |
Indicates whether the specification characteristic is available for use in the estimate’s and Product Order’s product specification. |
Technical Characteristic |
It indicates whether the specification characteristic is a technical characteristic. This option should be selected if access to viewing this specification characteristic should be restricted only to users who have permission. In order for a User Profile to have access to Technical Characteristics, access must be granted in EPS > Sales > Records > iQuote > Product Specification > Characteristic Specification Type > View Technical Characteristics. |
Note: For more information on how to fill the remaining fields in the screen above, refer to the Product Specification Records at “Add Specification Characteristic Types.”
Click Confirm. New fields will open, and you must fill them as you might need.
Click Edit Characteristic Info and then click New. The following screen will open:
Complete the remaining fields in this screen, as described below:

Description |
Label Type |
Enter a name of your choice for the Label Type, which will be used in the Production Order and in the Estimate. |
Active |
Indicate if the label type option is available for use in the product specification in the estimate and in the Production Order. |
Delivery Type |
This field defines how the final product will be delivered to the final customer, which can be: Roll Sheet Individual tag Fanfold |
Format (WxH) |
Label format. Enter the values in the Width x Height format. |
Label Die Cut |
Allows to indicate if this label model will require a label die cut finishing, instead of a total cut finishing. |
Note: The other fields in this screen will vary according to the chosen option in Delivery Format and the system will use them as default values when you select this Label Type in an Estimate or Job. You can change them when you create a new Estimate or Job, if you want.
Click Details to add more information about the label model such as margin values, corner radius or notes.
Note: For more information on how to fill the remaining fields, refer to Component Format – Label in the Specification Characteristic Types section of the Online Help.
Click Ok.
Repeat steps 4 to 6 to add all the appropriate characteristic types.
When finished, click Save.
Click Save again to save the new Specification Characteristic.
Note: After adding the appropriate specification characteristic, you must link it to the specification component so the system can display it in the product specification in the Estimate or the Production Order.
Linking the Specification Characteristic to the Specification Component
The user is required to have enabled the following access options to be able to link a specification characteristic to a specification component:
EPS > SALES > RECORDS > IQUOTE > PRODUCT SPECIFICATION > SPECIFICATION CHARACTERISTIC TYPE
In the system’s main menu, click Sales > Records > iQuote > Product Specification > Specification Component Type or enter "Specification Component Type” in the Quick Search field.
Click the Label component or create a new one.
On the Characteristics tab, click New.
In the Characteristic field select the Component Format - Label.
Complete the remaining fields as described below:

Select “Visible” and “Mandatory” so that the characteristic is displayed in the product’s Estimate. |

Select “1º Group” so that the characteristic is displayed in the first tab in the Estimate screen. |
Active |
Keep this characteristic active for making it available it in the Estimate screen. |
Presented Characteristic |
Select “Always” so that the characteristic is displayed in any of the product’s component and not only in the final product. |
Click Save.
