Glue

The glue record allows the user to add all glues used in the Product Engineering. The glue needs to be recorded only for the Engineering to calculate its consumption and cost. For more information, refer to "Plate Consumption and Cost Calculation in the Engineering.”

The user is required to have enabled the following access options to be able to delete glue:

EPS > SALES > RECORDS > IQUOTE > ENGINEERING > RAW MATERIAL > GLUE > DELETE GLUE

Information on the Glue Record Window

Go to Sales > Records > iQuote > Engineering > Raw Material > Glue

Tip: For more information on the buttons in this toolbar refer to “Standard toolbar” in Basic Navigation.

Tip: For more information on adding or editing search features refer to "Searching” in Basic Navigation.

Tip: For more information on how to add other information in columns, refer to "Views" in Basic Navigation.

Add Glue

Tip: To be able to add glues, the user must previously record the Glue Types. For more information, refer to "Glue Type.”

In the system’s main menu, click Sales > Records > iQuote > Engineering > Raw Material > Glues or enter "glues" in the Quick Search field.

Click Add. The following screen will open:

Complete the fields as described below:

Field

Description

Glue

Name of the glue to be used in Product Engineering.

Cost Account

Name of the cost account to which the glue cost shall be allocated for future cost analysis. For more information, refer to "Add Cost Accounts."

Cost sub account

Name of the cost sub account to which the glue cost shall be assigned. The Cost Sub Account belongs to the Cost Account. For more information, refer to "Add Cost Accounts.”

If the appropriate cost sub account is not listed, make sure the selected cost account is correct.

Density

Glue density. This field is informational only and will not be considered in the Engineering calculations.

Consumption (g/mP2P)

Glue consumption in grams per square meter to be used by the Engineering. The glue consumption calculation is different according to the place of application.

Minimum Consumption

Minimum glue consumption. If the consumption calculated by the Engineering is inferior to the minimum consumption, the calculated glue consumption will be modified to match it.

External Reference

Name used for integrating the glue record with other systems.

Inventory Item

Inventory item to which the glue must be linked to facilitate the material request.

If the appropriate inventory item is not displayed, it is necessary to record it. For more information, refer to "Add Inventory Items.”

Production Unit

Unit of measurement to be sent as default for the modules of production for requesting materials. This field does not affect the Engineering calculation unit, which is the same as the generic Engineering component type unit.

For more information, refer to "Add Engineering Component Types.”

Active

Indicates if the glue will be available for use in the Engineering.

Plant

Plant which indicates a material can only be used for Production Groups in the same plant, once it is linked to this material. Once the plant is selected and the raw material saved, it will no longer be allowed to unlink the plant linked to it, therefore, it is recommended to set this configuration with caution.

This field only appears if the “Separate raw materials by plant” is enabled in Sales > Records > iQuote > Commercial > Estimate General Setup

Glue Type

Glue type that can be linked to a raw material in order to allow this raw material to be selected by the Engineering, whenever it is slected in the Product Specification.

The glue type must be previously recorded. For more information, refer to "Glue Type.”.

Used in the Spine

Indicates if the glue can be applied in the product’s spine. The glue consumption in kg is calculated using the formula:

Spine glue weight (kg) = product height * spine thickness * consumption (g/mP2P) * (cycles/ 1,000)

Used in the Spine Lateral

Indicates if the glue can be applied in the product’s spine lateral. The glue consumption in kg is calculated using the formula:

Lateral glue weight (kg) = product height * lateral glue area * 2 * consumption (g/mP2P) * (cycles/ 1,000)

The lateral glue area is defined in the functionality that uses glue, which can be:

1014 – Cover machine (Perfect Biding). For more information, refer to "Setting Functionality 1014 – Cover Machine (Perfect Biding).”

1061 – Backing material glue. For more information, refer to "Setting Functionality 1061 – Backing material Glue.”

Used in the machine's total spine inline

Indicates if the glue can be used as total glue line applied inline in the webfed machine. The glue consumption in kg is calculated using the formula:

Glue line weight (kg) = machine Cutoff / 1,000 * machine’s application width / 1,000 * total number of nozzles * total number of cycles * (consumption (g/mP2P) /1,000)

Where:

Machine’s application width – As defined in the 1032 – Glue Inline functionality. For more information, refer to "Setting functionality 1032 – Glue Inline.”

Number of nozzles – Equivalent to the Height factor or the Width factor fields in the Folding schemes record. For more information, refer to "Folding Schemes.”

Used in the machine's partial spine inline

Indicates if the glue can be used as partial glue line applied inline in the webfed machine.

Number of nozzles – Equivalent to the Hight factor or the Width factor fields in the Folding schemes record. The folding scheme indicates if it is necessary to apply the partial glue. For more information, refer to "Folding Schemes.”

Used in the carton closure

Indicates if the glue can be used in the carton closing process. This glue is used only by the 1037 – Carton closure functionality. For more information, refer to "Setting functionality 1037 – Carton closure.”

Hot Glue

Indicates if this is a hot type of glue. This glue will be used only if the Apply hot glue option is enabled in the 1037 – Carton closure functionality. For more information, refer to "Setting functionality 1037 – Carton closure.” This field is displayed only if the Used in the carton closure option is enabled.

Used in the coupling

Indicates if the glue can be used in substrate coupling. This glue will be used only by the 1044 – Coupler (Substrate/ Microcorrugated) functionality. For more information, see "Setting functionality 1044 – Coupler (Substrate/ Microcorrugated).”

Used in pasting

Indicates if the glue can be used in substrate coupling. This glue will be used only by the 1055 – Paster functionality. For more information, see "Setting functionality 1055 – Paster.”
