Set Up Base Characteristics And Mailing Characteristic Classes

If you want the Estimate screen to include a specific format model, select Regular Format (Standard) in the Base Characteristics field on the Product Line screen. Navigate to Sales > Record > iQuote > Product Specification.

Characteristic Classes For The Mailing Process

iQuote includes various characteristic classes that pertain to the Mailing add-on module so you can create estimates and jobs that follow your mailing processes. Navigate to Sales > Records > iQuote > Product Specification > Specification Characteristic Type to create a Specification Characteristic Type record, then select any of the following envelope values in the Characteristic Class field on the Type of Specification Characteristic screen:

Envelope Format

The Envelope Format characteristic class enables you to set up both the flat and final envelope formats, link a format model, and any corresponding die cutting specifications.

When you select the Envelope Format characteristic class, you can select die cutting, stripping, or envelope maker features; or you can select a compatible envelope from inventory.

Envelope Inserter

The Envelope inserter characteristic class enables you to add informative notes to the final product component and activates the 1093 - Envelope Inserter functionality, which is responsible for inserting the components into Outer Envelope.

When you select the Envelope Inserter on the Product > Specification tab of the Estimate or Job record, you can open the corresponding menu and click Composition Details to see the detailed information about this aggregation.

Note: You must include the Outer Envelope component as the first component on the Composition Details screen. Otherwise, iQuote displays the "Envelope Inserter: It is needed to have an Outer Envelope as the first component in the composition" message.

Inkjet Components

Select Inkjet Components in the Characteristic Class field on the Specification Characteristic Type screen to set up inkjet application information.

Note: The check box preceding the functionality name appears only if the specification characteristic is optional to the selected component.

The Inkjet specification characteristic activates the 1092 – Inkjet functionality, and the field data for this characteristic determines the production group used in the engineering, according to its configurations. This characteristic also impacts the speed, waste, and cost calculations, depending on the filters set up in the productions group.

If you select the Inkjet specification characteristic, you must configure the Content Type and Color Type in the Specification Characteristic Type record by clicking the Edit Characteristic Info button on the Add Type of Specification Characteristic screen, then enter the appropriate component values in the Color Type and Content Type areas.

Window Patch

The Window Patch specification characteristic type enables you to specify the characteristics for the see-through patch frequently added to envelopes used for mailing products.

Note: The check box preceding the functionality name appears only if the specification characteristic is optional to the selected component.

The Window Patch specification characteristic activates the 1091 – Window patcher functionality, and the Window Shape field displays all Format Model records with a format type of Window Patch. The Window Patch Material area enables you to configure the placement and material used for this window patch.

When you select the Window Patch on the Product > Specification tab of the Estimate or Job record, you can click Details to see and edit the window patch position.
