The Estimator Field

This feature’s goal is to make it possible to assign some users as Estimators, link this information to the estimate and keep it all through the production process.

A new field was added to the Estimate’s Identification tab:

Note: This field is not mandatory and it can be cleared afterwards.

The estimator information will also be available in the Negotiation tab’s header:

Note: The estimator field cannot be edited in this tab, only in the Identification tab.

Also the estimate history displays also any changes made to the estimator, in Sales > iQuote > Estimate > edit an estimate > History tab > Changes tab.

Note: When an estimate is duplicated, the Estimator information will be kept but can be edited.

Note: The Estimator information will not be displayed in the Job screen.

The estimator is also available in the object workflow so that it will be possible to assign events:

Estimator in the User Record

Now users recorded in iQuote system can be set as Estimators. This definition can be made in the user record screen, by checking the “Estimator” parameter, under Basic information.

Note: The same user can be defined as a CSR and an Estimator.

User record browser

This new user role can be used as a filter in the User browser.

To add it to a searching profile go to Searching setup and select a profile or create a new one. Under “Field” click the drop down menu to choose Estimator:

In order to have the Estimator field displayed in the User’s browser as a column go to Views and select the Estimator parameter. Click Record User view to show this information by default.

Estimate Standards: Default Automatic Filling

The user can set the system to automatically populate the Estimator field with a default user. Go to Sales > Records > iQuote > Commercial and choose the default estimator in the General Default tab:

With this configuration whenever a user that is not recorded as an Estimator creates an estimate, the system will populate the estimator field automatically. Even so there will still be possible to edit this information later.

Exception

In the exception tab the user can create exception rules in order to define a specific product line, customer, company etc will have a different estimator as default:

Note: When an user that is recorded as Estimator creates a new estimate the system will ignore the configuration in Estimate Standards and any exceptions rules and select the current user as the estimator.
