Functionalities
The purpose of this iQuote guide is to provide basic information on the Engineering Records and to describe the main buttons, windows and configurations required to add, edit and delete such records as well as other information relevant to this step in the system’s implementation process.
For more information on the system’s initial access, refer to Introduction to iQuote. For more information on the Product Specification Records, refer to iQuote User Guide – Product Specification Records.
Note: This document was written for contexts where the iQuote system has already been preconfigured and it’s necessary only to add the functions specific for this particular scenario. If the system is not set or there are doubts about its records or functions refer to the iQuote user guides, the Online Help or reach out to our support team.
The functionalities represent the main Production Group function. They are a set of classes with technical information that determine the Production Group functions as well as its relations.
The restriction information and process specific characteristics are recorded in the functionalities. For example, the sheetfed offset press functionality requires the user to inform the machine’s margins, height and width, number of colors, etc. But the gatherer functionality requires the user to inform the number of pockets.
The system has a list of functionalities representing the several functions in a printing process (sheetfed press, webfed press, trimming, gathering, folding etc). The functionalities can be combined with each other, so if a webfed press also cuts the sheetsthe user has to add two functionalities for its production group: one for the printing process and the other for the cutting process.
Note: All the functionalities can be easily identified by a unique code that precedes their description. The codes remain the same when the system is translated into another language.
Note: The functionalities are recorded in the Production Group. For more information, refer to “Add Functionalities in the Production Group.”
All the functionalities have a list of Engineering components that can or must be used, and components they can produce. The components that are consumed are the functionality’s input components and the produced ones are the output components. For the Engineering to work correctly it is necessary for the input and output components to be correctly selected in the functionalities, according to each product type.
