Getting Started

The Product Specification records are information sets that determine each product line’s structure in the system. For example, a magazine product has a structure made by cover + book block components, each one defined by characteristics such as color, paper tyé, varnish etc – which are defined in the Product Specification.

See below how those records are connected:

The settings in the Product Specification records will be used in different parts of the system such as in the Job, Estimate etc.

This User Guide describes the information that must be set up in order to build Product Specifications, including all of the items shown in the table below. The information entered in this section determines the way iQuote will work, and is extremely important to its operation.

The user is required to have the following access options enabled to be able to access the Product Specification Records:

EPS > SALES > RECORDS > IQUOTE > PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS > MENU OPTION

Menu Option

Record Name

Record Description

Glue Type

Enter types of glue used in the product specification.

Specification Characteristic Type

Enter and control the characteristics that are used in the specification components.

Specification Component Type

Enter and control the components to be used in the product specification to identify parts such as cover, book block, folder, etc.

Colors

Color Group

Create and maintain the categories of colors (such as Process, Spot, Fluorescent, etc).

Color

Create and maintain the individual colors that will be specified for components (such as Cyan, Fluorescent Yellow, Panton 308, etc).

Color Pattern

Define standard colors and default coverage percentages.

Substrate

Substrate Group

Define groups of substrates that share calculation method (grammage, basis size, thickness) and can be assigned to components.

Substrate Type

Create and maintain the different types of substrates to be used in the product specification.

Manufacturer

Define substrate manufacturer information.

Job Structure

Define structures of components that are linked to product lines used when creating products.

Product Line

Define the different products that will be estimated such as magazines, books, cartons, packages, etc.

Folding Scheme

Create the different folding patterns that can you can use to define specifications and to calculate engineering layouts.
