Envelope format
The “Component Format – Envelope” Class Specification Characteristic Type allows users to inform both the flat and final envelope formats, the linked model and the respective die cutting specifications
This specification characteristic can activate three functionalities (die cutting, stripping and envelope maker) or pick a compatible envelope from inventory.
Inkjet
The “Inkjet” Class Specification Characteristic Type allows users to inform the inkjet application information.
Note: The check box preceding the functionality name is displayed only if the specification characteristic is optional to the selected component.
This specification characteristic can activate the 1092 – Inkjet functionality. The data populating this characteristic’s fields will determine which production group is used in the engineering, according to its configurations. It can also impact the speed, waste and cost calculations, depending on the filters set up in the productions group. Refer to New functionalities: Inkjet for more about this.
The options available under Content type and Color type must be configured in the Specification characteristic type record, by clicking Edit characteristic info. In the image below, you can see an example of configuration for the Inkjet characteristic:
Window patch
The “Window patch” Specification characteristic type allows users to specify the characteristics for the see-through patch that frequently goes in the envelopes used for mailing products.
Note: The check box preceding the functionality name is displayed only if the specification characteristic is optional to the selected component.
This specification characteristic can activate the 1091 – Window patcher functionality.
Under “Window shape” the system shows all Format models records with format type set as “window patch”. Refer to Format model for more about this record.
The “Material” field brings options previously configured in the characteristic specification record, in Edit characteristic info, in Edit characteristic info:
When the Window patcher is selected in the Estimate’s or Job’s product specification tab, click Details to see and edit the window patch position:
Envelope inserter
The “Envelope inserter” Specification Characteristic Type allows users to add informative notes to the final product component.
This specification characteristic activates the 1035 – Component kitting functionality, responsible for gathering all components in one final product.
When the component with the Envelope Inserter characteristic is selected in the Estimate’s or Job’s product specification tab, click to open the menu and select Composition Details to see the detailed information about this aggregation:
Use the lookup in the header to select the component. The grid under Composed by lists all the components aggregated to it.

The fields Aggregation Type, Input State and Match information in the Composition Detail screen display values defined in the Evelope Inserter Specification Characteristic Type record, in Edit characteristic info. In order to define these values do as follows:
Navigate to Sales > Records > iQuote > Product Specification > Specification Characteristic Type.
In the Specification Characteristic Type browser do one of the following:
Open the Evelope Inserter record, or
Create a new record, define its Characteristic Class as the Envelope Inserter and click Confirm.
Click Edit Characteristic Info. The following window opens:
Under Input State:
Click New.
Enter a description
Under Match information:
Click New.
Enter a description
Under Aggregation Type:
Click New.
Enter a description for the aggregation option that may be used by children components linked to the component that has this aggregation characteristic. This information can be modified in the Estimate’s or Job’s Product Specification.
Select one of the Aggregation type options:
Use Aggregation Inserted.
Use Aggregation Affixed.
Select Standard…
Keep the option Active selected
