Access Control by Specification Category

The access controls to Smart Notes topics are set using the specification category record and the permissions by user profile.

Important: Users with no access to a given topic or question can still visualize it in the smart notes, but as read-only.

 

From iQuote’s desktop go to Sales > Records > iQuote Product Specification > Specification category or enter “Specification category” in the quick search field.

In Description, enter a name for identifying the category

Click Confirm.

From iQuote’s desktop go to Administration > User > User profiles or enter “User profiles” in the quick search field.

Select the appropriate user profile and click Edit.

Under Permissions open the following:

EPS > SALES > IQUOTE > ACCESS CONTROL BY SPECIFICATION CATEGORY

All of the specification category records are listed under “access control by specification category”. Enable all the appropriate permissions.

Users can select a specification category in either the topic or in the question level. See the examples below.

EXAMPLES

Case 1

The specification category is selected on the topic level:

The user in this example does not have permission for the QA access control, therefore all of the fields in the sign-off topic are read-only:

The specification category is selected on the question level:

The user in this example also does not have permission for the QA access control. But, since specification category has been defined in only one of the questions, the other one is still answerable:
