Set Up Substrate Engineering Selection

1. Navigate to the Substrate Type record for which you want to determine the engineering selection.
   
2. On the Edit Substrate Type screen, in the Lines/Substrate area at the bottom of the screen, click Go To Raw Materials Per Plant, then click the Created Raw Materials tab.

1. On the Created Raw Materials tab, select one of the following values in the Engineering Selection field to determine the calculation for this substrate: 

• Select Normal if you want the system to use the normal size for this material to calculate the route.
• Select Alternative if you want to indicate an alternative sheet size for the estimate calculation.
• Select Only if Required if you want the system to calculate the estimate only for the required size for the material.
• Select Generic if you want the system to use a standard size in the estimate calculation for this material and calculate the best sheet size in each estimate.

1. From the iQuote Desktop, navigate to Sales > iQuote > Estimate. The Estimate List screen opens, with a list of available estimates.
2. From the Estimate List screen, create a new or select an existing estimate.
3. Select, or review, the substrate type, line and grammage for the estimate.
   
4. Click Calculate (or Recalculate) to apply the estimate calculation. The system calculates the estimate.

1. If you want to recalculate the estimate using an alternative size, click the Engineering tab on the estimate, click the desired process, then click Select Route. The Route Selection screen opens.

1. Click Alternative. The Route Selection screen lists the available alternative substrate with an asterisk (*).
2. Select the desired substrate, then click Apply. The Route Selection screen closes, and iQuote uses the alternative size you selected to calculate the engineering.

 

Create Substrate Sizes Within An Estimate

iQuote enables you to create required substrate sizes within an estimate that falls outside existing substrate type records.

1. Navigate to the desired estimate and select the Product tab.
   
2. On the Estimate screen, in the Paper area, click Details. The Details screen opens.

1. Complete the following fields in the Substrate Format Required By The Customer area of the Details screen, as applicable:

• In the Format field, enter the required size for this material.
• In the Grain Direction field, select whether the grain follows the height or width of the material, or if the direction is Indifferent.
• In the More Options table, click on New to add a new format, or Delete to remove an existing format.
• In the Notes field, enter any additional information you want to include about this format.

1. Complete the following fields in the Supply area of the Details screen, as applicable:

• In the Manufacturer field select the manufacturer for this substrate.
• In the Other Manufacturer field, enter any other manufacturer you want to associate with this substrate.

1. In the Generic Paper area of the Estimate screen, select the Simulates Generic Substrate check box if you want the system to determine the best sheet size to use for this estimate from all the available standard sizes (generic substrates).

Note: The system takes more time to calculate the estimate if you select the Simulates Generic Substrate check box.

1. Complete the following fields in the Thickness area of the Details screen, as applicable:

• Select the Change Substrate Thickness check box if you want the thickness of the substrate to change.
• In the Substrate Thickness field (required and available only if you select the Change Substrate Thickness check box), enter the thickness you want this format to use for the substrate.

1. Click OK to save your changes. The Details window closes.
2. Click Calculate (Or Recalculate) to apply the estimate calculation. The system calculates the estimate and saves the new substrate size you created to the Substrate record.
